Legal Entities of University Education – Recognition by the Ministry of Education
Aegis Omiros University, as a University-Level Legal Entity, is under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports with regard to its organization, operation, and mission, serving the public interest and the constitutional purposes of higher education, while upholding academic freedom and the freedom of teaching and research.
State supervision is exercised by Department A’ of Higher Education Organization within the Directorate of Organizational and Academic Development of the General Directorate of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, in accordance with point (a) of paragraph 2 of Article 44 of Presidential Decree 18/2018 (Government Gazette A’ 31).
In general
Aegis Omiros University offers study programs that are accredited by the awarding institution, the University of Essex, and approved by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HQA). Graduates are awarded the official degree of the awarding institution.
Before degrees are issued, Aegis Omiros University submits the relevant notification to the competent Department, including the list of graduates and the set of degree certificates, which are then officially stamped by the Department.
The awarded degree, issued under the conditions of paragraph 1, is recognized by the Greek state provided that it is included in the National Register of degree types from recognized foreign institutions, maintained by DOATAP in accordance with Article 304 of Law 4957/2022 (Government Gazette A’ 141).
The awarded degree is not subject to the academic recognition process of DOATAP.
Recognition of the degree is automatic. The degrees are academically equivalent and professionally equivalent to those awarded by public Greek universities.
