Admissions
You may enroll in any of the undergraduate or postgraduate programs offered by AOU–University of Essex throughout the year.
AOU–University of Essex maintains an official student registry, which records students’ personal details upon the commencement of their studies, their grades, academic obligations, and any other information required under the Internal Regulations.
Eligibility for Admission to First-Cycle (Undergraduate) Programs of Recognized N.P.P.E Institutions
The following candidates are eligible for admission:
a) Greek or international applicants who hold a General Lyceum (GEL) or Vocational Lyceum (EPAL) diploma and meet the minimum entry requirement (E.V.E.).
The E.V.E. is calculated as 80% of the lowest average score of all candidates within each scientific field.
b) Holders of equivalent secondary education diplomas from recognized foreign schools operating in Greece (Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework).
c) Holders of international secondary education diplomas issued by schools in Greece or abroad, as well as foreign applicants holding an equivalent high school diploma or equivalent vocational qualification that grants access to higher education in the country of issuance.
For this purpose, the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports maintains, updates, and publishes on its website the lists of secondary education diplomas—both general and vocational—that are considered equivalent to the Greek Lyceum diploma by country.
Eligibility for Admission to Second- and Third-Cycle Programs (Postgraduate & Doctoral)
Eligible applicants include holders of recognized first-cycle (bachelor’s) degrees from accredited institutions in Greece, as well as from accredited institutions abroad that appear in the registers of DOATAP, in accordance with Law 4957/2022 (A 124).
d) Applicants who completed high school before 2021:
For GEL and EPAL graduates who obtained their diploma before the 2021 academic year—before the Minimum Entry Requirement (E.V.E.) was introduced—the admission terms and conditions of the awarding institution apply.
