Andreas D. Giannakoudakis

Andreas D. Giannakoudakis is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), as well as a Chemist and Mathematician. He served for 41 years in the Department of Chemistry at AUTH and retired in 2023. He holds degrees in both Chemistry and Mathematics from AUTH, earned his PhD from the Faculty of Sciences of the same university, and completed further studies at the Technical University of Munich.

His scientific and research work focuses on Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Education, the application of Mathematics in Chemistry, and Information and Communication Technologies in Chemistry. For many years, he taught in the undergraduate program of the Department of Chemistry, authored 11 academic textbooks and educational software applications, and contributed to the development of innovative educational material for higher education, secondary education, and non-formal education.

He has supervised doctoral dissertations, postgraduate theses, and undergraduate projects, while also participating in research and educational programs involving international collaborations. In parallel, he held important administrative positions at AUTH, including Chair of the Department of Chemistry, member of the University Governing Council, Vice Chancellor for Financial Planning and Development, and Vice Chancellor for Administrative Affairs, contributing significantly to the enhancement of the university’s infrastructure, equipment, and educational operations.
